How to find logs

Detailed guide for exporting and sending OpenCart logs

Why are OpenCart logs important?

OpenCart logs contain valuable information that helps the support team diagnose and resolve technical problems effectively. Without them, diagnosis of problems can be time consuming and less accurate.

Where are the logs?

OpenCart logs are in the folder system/storage/logs of your store. Depending on the OpenCart version you use, the location may vary slightly:

Location of files per version:

  • OpenCart 3.x / 4.x: /system/storage/logs/
  • OpenCart 2.x: /system/logs/
  • OpenCart 1.5.x: /system/logs/

How to access logs

Method 1: Using FTP

  1. Connect to your server via an FTP program (such as FileZilla)
  2. Navigate to OpenCart folder
  3. Find the folder system/storage/logs (or system/logs for earlier versions)
  4. Download all files with .log extension

Method 2: Through Control Panel File Manager

  1. Connect to your hosting control panel (cPanel, Plesk, etc.)
  2. Find and open File Manager
  3. Navigate to OpenCart folder
  4. Find the log folder as described above
  5. Select the .log files you want to download
  6. Use the "Download" or "Compress" option to download them

Which files should you send?

To better diagnose the problem, we recommend sending:

  • error.log - Contains general OpenCart errors
  • ocmod.log - Related to extension installation or runtime problems
  • Any other log file with recent modification date
  • If there is a specific log file associated with the plugin you are using

Important note:

Log files may contain sensitive information. Do not share them publicly or with unauthorized people. OpenCart Greece handles support files confidentially.
